Purpose
The purpose of this conference is to enhance nurses' knowledge regarding advances in the care and treatment of individuals and populations with cancer.
Target Audience
Nurses, social workers, and other allied healthcare professionals in the field of oncology
Learning Objectives
- Review approaches to improve clinical research in the AYA oncology population.
- Become familiar with approaches and skills in palliative care needs assessment for patients of any age.
- Introduce hands on mindfulness skills that can be used with oneself, colleagues, and patients.
- Understand the epidemiology and rising incidence of early-onset colorectal cancer in the United States.
- Explore how shared experiences and peer relationships impact oncology patients.
- Review clinical progress and challenges in treatment of adolescent and young adults with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
- Identify the unique challenges faced by geriatric oncology patients.
- Discuss coping strategies and self-care options for caregivers.

This nursing continuing professional development activity was approved by the Midwest Multistate Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
This continuing professional development conference awards 5.0 contact hours for nurses, 4.5 contact hours for physical therapists and occupational therapists, and 4.0 contact hours for social workers.
