Cancer Connections is just what the doctor ordered, introducing tools, techniques, and services you can use to re-energize during and after cancer treatment. Meetings are held several times a year, and patients and caregivers are invited to attend.

Dr. Melanie Smith will discuss what palliative care is and what it is't, and how focusing on symptom management and clarifying your goals of care can help your quality of life both during and after treatment. She will also touch on the most up-to-date research and will get down to the "nuts and bolts" of what it is they actually do during palliative care visits.

This panel discussion will include both young adult cancer survivors and survivorship care professionals. The panel will discuss a variety of topics including patient personal stories about transitioning to life after cancer treatment. Participants will also learn about common late effects of cancer treatment and how to secure optimal long term cancer survivorship care.

Dr. Lauren Streicher, a leading sexual health expert and author of Sex Rx: Hormones, Health and Your Best Sex Ever, will explore sexuality after a cancer diagnosis and treatment. Kristin Smith is the national Patient Navigator through the Oncofertility Consortium of Northwestern University and will discuss appropriate steps for determining fertility and reproductive health after treatment as well as explore multiple options for building a family.
