DermPath Second Opinion Service

The Skin Cancer Institute and Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine Department of Dermatology offer the DermPath Second Opinion Service to provide timely second opinion pathology evaluations of tissue samples for outside physicians, pathologists and patients.

In most cases, insurance carriers will reimburse the costs of this pathology service.

You’ll need to provide relevant slide(s), a records release form, HIPPA privacy statements and some information about you. Northwestern may also request relevant information from your medical records.

About Our Team

Our dermatopathologists are experts in the diagnosis and classification of all types of skin cancers using both standard microscopic examination and advanced molecular tests particularly for melanomas and lymphomas. Pedram Gerami, MD, and Joan Guitart, MD, are leaders in the use of molecular tests to supplement and improve diagnosis of skin cancers.
