Cancer-Focused Research
One of the goals of our lab is to understand sleep regulation. Sleep and cancer are intertwined in a bi-directional relationship. Sleep disorders are a risk factor to developing particular types of cancer and can affect their evolution and drug response. At the same time, cancer and its treatment can have deleterious consequences for sleep. Obtaining critical and missing mechanistic insight into how sleep amount and quality are regulated has the potential to decrease cancer risk as well as improve treatment response.
