Cancer-Focused Research
I have consistently made essential contributions to the epigenetics field and continue to produce new paradigms of centromere specification and function. These include the identification of novel chromatin associated complexes and post translational modification of the CENP-A nucleosome. The immediate goal is to determine the mechanism of epigenetic centromere inheritance, with a long-term goal of delineating the role of this process in tumorigenesis, and translating our basic understanding of the enzymes and proteins involved in this process into therapeutic approaches for targeting cancer cells.
