Cancer-Focused Research
My research potentially benefits cancer patients and the treatment of cancer by investigating ways to mitigate unwanted side-effects of chemotherapeutics and to promote tissue recovery. I am a Physician-Scientist with research interests in tissue destruction, wound healing, and skin inflammation with a focus on the role of host innate immune responses. We are interested in mechanisms of tissue damage, in particular the response to insults such as ultraviolet radiation and toxic alkylating agents (chemotherapeutics). My lab has worked on studying novel immune modulating treatments for tissue repair by repurposing currently available medications.
