Learning Objectives

As a result of attending this conference, participants will be able to:

  • Analyze the barriers and values of palliative care and apply the patient navigation framework to address the needs of diverse patient populations.
  • Review the pharmacological properties of Olanzapine and its application in managing common symptoms in palliative care.
  • Examine the challenge of bronchorrhea in palliative care and explore evidence-based pharmacologic and mechanical management strategies for secretion control.
  • Review the role of benzodiazepines in managing anxiety in palliative care, including their risks, benefits, and safest use practices.
  • Explore the contributions of advance practice providers, nursing presence, and interprofessional collaboration in early integrated palliative care, emphasizing clinical practice and research.
  • Identify the roles and contributions of interdisciplinary team members in delivering high-quality palliative care.

Contact Hours

This activity has been submitted to the Midwest Multistate Division for approval to award contact hours. The Midwest Multistate Division is accredited as an approver of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

Additionally, this activity provides 4.5 continuing education contact hours for physical therapists and occupational therapists, and 3.0 continuing education hours for social workers.
