Sheetal Kircher, MD, Named ASCO Fellow
Sheetal Kircher, MD, medical director of Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University’s Cancer Survivorship Institute, has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (FASCO). This prestigious award recognizes her extraordinary volunteer service, engagement, and dedication to ASCO.
“Volunteering with ASCO has been profoundly meaningful, enabling me to contribute to transformative initiatives that enhance the lives of cancer patients and their families,” said Kircher, an associate professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and a Northwestern Medicine oncologist. “Through ASCO, I have been able to broaden my professional network while making contributions to advancements in research, education, advocacy, and patient care.”
Kircher’s primary clinical focus is the treatment of gastrointestinal malignancies. Her research interests are related to improving the quality of care throughout the cancer continuum, and better understanding the trends in use and expenditure of services and drugs. She is also interested in evaluation of cancer-related health policies.
She has been actively involved with ASCO since 2011 and currently serves as member of their Health Equity Committee. As one of two 2018-2019 ASCO Health Policy Leadership Fellows, Kircher had the opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience to shape regulatory and legislative policies that impact patients with cancer, as well as their care teams.
