Cancer-Focused Research

Collaborate with faculty on translational research projects to advance basic research towards therapeutic endpoints using small molecules. In this role, I have led multiple early stage drug discovery projects for diseases including leukemia, prostate cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, depression, chronic pain, anti-infectives, diabetes, and others. On these projects, I have guided early hit identification and hit validation efforts to generate drug-like small molecules for subsequent hit-to-lead medicinal chemistry. I have also led all medicinal chemistry activities on these projects to design and synthesize optimized novel small molecules for biological testing. I also regularly oversee multiple aspects of drug discovery projects including medicinal chemistry, molecular modeling, DMPK testing, and biological testing.
