Dr. Andersen's lab uses classical, quantitative, and molecular genetics to understand the polymorphisms that underlie multigenic traits of medical importance. Specifically, they focus on two important areas: (1) how conserved signal transduction pathways vary across populations, and (2) how different individuals respond to chemotherapeutic drugs. These two research directions take advantage of the experimental power of the nematode worm C. elegans to further the original discoveries made in this model system.
