Steven T. Rosen, MD, FACP, is the Genevieve E. Teuton Professor of Medicine and Director of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. With his visionary leadership since 1989, Dr. Rosen has brought the Lurie Cancer Center to a position of national prominence.
Following his graduation with distinction from Northwestern University Medical School's Honors Program in 1976, Dr. Rosen completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Northwestern and a fellowship in Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute. A rigorous scientist, Dr. Rosen's laboratory investigations focus on experimental therapeutics and hematologic malignancies. He has received numerous awards, grants and contracts and has published more than 300 scientific papers. Dr. Rosen serves on several editorial boards and is editor of Cancer Treatment & Research. He is a member of all major national associations that focus on oncology and has held leadership positions in the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, the American Association of Cancer Institutes, and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. He serves on the advisory boards of several NCI-designated Cancer Centers, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America, the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, the Cure for Lymphoma Foundation, and the Wendy Will Cancer Research Foundation. Dr. Rosen also is listed as one of "Chicago's Top Doctors" and "America's Top Doctors".
Among numerous awards, Dr. Rosen received the Northwestern University's Alumni Merit Award in 1994, the Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award from Northwestern Memorial Hospital also in 1994, and the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation Community of Commitment Award in 2001. In March 2008, Dr. Rosen and the Lurie Cancer Center were paid a special tribute by philanthropist Ann Lurie and Maggie Daley, wife of Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, at the Light Up a Life Gala. This benefit raised more than $1 million in funds to support the Lurie Cancer Center and the groundbreaking work of Dr. Rosen and his colleagues across all mission areas.
