Northwestern Memorial Ranks 6th Nationally on U.S. News' Best Hospitals 2013-14 Honor Roll
Northwestern also continued to hold top spots on U.S. News’ Illinois and Chicago Metro rankings
Congratulations to our hospital partner, Northwestern Memorial Hospital! The Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University’s primary teaching affiliate continues to earn national recognition as part of the U.S. News & World Report ranking of America’s Best Hospitals. Northwestern Memorial climbed six places to 6th in the nation on the publisher’s most exclusive ranking: the Best Hospitals 2013-14 Honor Roll. Northwestern Memorial continued its second year as the only hospital in Illinois to make this prestigious ranking, and continues to be No. 1 in Illinois and the Chicago metro area, rankings they’ve held since U.S. News introduced its state and local rankings two years ago.
This year’s Honor Roll highlights just 18 hospitals out of nearly 5,000 nationwide for their rare breadth and depth of clinical excellence. U.S. News also evaluates hospitals within 16 adult specialties, including cancer. The Lurie Cancer Center is proud to announce the rise of Northwestern Memorial’s cancer rank to 14.
The Lurie Cancer Center and its affiliated hospitals and physician practices treat nearly 10,000 new cancer cases annually providing an extensive range of treatment options, including more than 300 interventional clinical trials. In addition to being one of only 41 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country, the Lurie Cancer Center is also a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), an alliance of 23 of the world’s leading cancer centers dedicated to improving the quality and effectiveness of cancer care.
