On January 23, 2006, Emily Hoffman lost her mother, Renée Israel, to a long, hard-fought battle against breast cancer. The Renee Israel Foundation, formed by David Israel and his daughters, Ivy, Jamie, and Emily in memory of their late wife and mother, has contributed annually to the Lurie Cancer Center.
A portion of the proceeds from "A Blending of Bittersweet Memories" will also be donated to advance breast cancer research at the Lurie Cancer Center.
