Northwestern Memorial Hospital Wins Consumer Choice Award
The Lurie Cancer Center's primary teaching affiliate, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, received the National Research Corporation's (NRC) Consumer Choice Award for the 12th consecutive year. The award honors hospitals which healthcare consumers have rated as having the highest quality and image in over 300 markets throughout the U.S. This is the sixth year that Northwestern Memorial has been named the sole winner in Chicago.
Winners are determined based on consumer perceptions collected in the annual NRC Healthcare Market Guide Study (HMGS), the nation's largest and most comprehensive consumer perception study of its kind, representing more than 250,000 households. Four key areas are surveyed in the HMGS: best doctors, best nurses, best overall quality and best image and reputation.
In addition to winning the award, more survey participants selected Northwestern Memorial when polled about their Most Preferred hospital than any other medical center in the Chicago metropolitan area, an honor Northwestern Memorial has received for 16 years running. The award was announced in the October 18 issue of Modern Healthcare and posted on the NRC website for public viewing.
