True North Treks Helps Young Adult Cancer Survivors Chart a New Course
|David Victorson, PhD||
True North Treks is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of adolescent and young adult cancer survivors during their transition or "re-entry" from a cancer diagnosis and treatment to survivorship. National Young Adult Cancer Awareness week is an ideal time to learn about how this organization uses short term experiences in nature focused on contemplative and outdoor leadership activities to help young adult cancer survivors develop "survival skills for survivors."
True North Treks' founder and Executive Director is David Victorson, PhD, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Social Sciences at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. A licensed health psychologist, he specializes in working with people diagnosed with cancer and their care providers. Victorson is a member of the Lurie Cancer Center's multidisciplinary group working with the LIVESTRONG Young Adult Alliance to promote clinical and research initiatives for our young adult cancer patients.
