Chung Lee Lectureship 2016
Chung Lee, Ralph Buttyan and Leonidas Platanias
The Lurie Cancer Center hosted the annual Chung Lee Special Lecture on September 29, paying tribute to Chung Lee, PhD, Professor Emeritus in Urology at the Feinberg School of Medicine.
The seminar’s featured speaker was Ralph Buttyan, PhD, Senior Scientist in the Vancouver Prostate Centre and Professor in the Department of Urologic Sciences at the University of British Columbia. His presentation was titled “The Hedgehog Paradigm in Prostate Cancer: Rational Targeting to Control Castration-Resistant Disease.” Dr Buttyan’s research interest lies in understanding the molecular and genetic changes that enable prostate cancer cells to acquire resistance to androgen ablation (hormone) and other types of therapies.
“Chung Lee's contributions over the years have been truly remarkable,” Leonidas Platanias, MD, PhD, Director of the Lurie Cancer Center. “He as had a major impact on prostate cancer research at the Lurie Cancer Center and the Feinberg School of Medicine.”
