Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Lurie Cancer Center’s primary teaching affiliate, has again been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top hospitals in the country, ranking 13th on the prestigious Best Hospitals Honor Roll, a distinction awarded to 20 U.S. hospitals that deliver the highest quality of care across a range of specialties, procedures and conditions. Northwestern Memorial remained ranked first in both the Chicago Metro Region and Illinois for the seventh consecutive year.

Cancer Care Ranked 1st in Illinois and Chicago

Cancer care at Northwestern Memorial was once again recognized among the nation’s best. The clinical home of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University was ranked 12th in the nation, and ranked first in Illinois and the Chicago Metro Area for seven years in a row.

Earlier this week, Lurie Cancer Center received the highest rating possible from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), an overall “exceptional,” on the competitive renewal of our status as one of only 49 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers.  Lurie Cancer Center and its affiliated hospitals treat nearly 15,000 new cancer patients each year, providing personalized, state-of-the-art treatment, world-class specialists and access to approximately 300 active clinical trials for nearly every type of cancer, often before they are available anywhere else.

Lurie Children’s and AblityLab Rank on Top

Earlier this summer, U.S. News ranked our pediatric partner, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, the top children’s hospital in Illinois and the 10th best children’s hospital in the country. Lurie Children’s is also the only Illinois children’s hospital named to the Honor Roll.

In addition, the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (previously known as the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago) continues to be recognized as the national leader in physical medicine and rehabilitation, topping the U.S. News list for 28 consecutive years. Our proximity and affiliation with the AbilityLab enables us to coordinate world-class cancer treatment and rehabilitation for our patients.
